DESCRIPTION:Internationally acclaimed jazz pianist and composer Dan Costa will make a rare Sunshine Coast appearance at The Jazz Sessions at The Presynct on Sunday 18 October from 3:30pm–6:00pm. \nIn what promises to be one of the region’s most distinctive live music experiences of the year\, Costa’s appearance offers Sunshine Coast audiences a rare opportunity to witness a truly international jazz artist of exceptional calibre in an intimate performance setting.\nKnown worldwide for his richly expressive blend of jazz\, Brazilian and world music influences\, Costa has collaborated with an extraordinary roster of artists including Randy Brecker\, Ron Carter\, John Patitucci\, Mike Stern\, Hermeto Pascoal\, Dave Liebman\, Ivan Lins and Dave Douglas. \nHis music reflects his mixed cultural background as well as his deep connection to the natural environment\, bringing together philosophical concepts\, modern jazz colours and world music rhythms. His work has been featured by Rolling Stone Magazine\, Sky and the BBC\, among many leading international media outlets. \nHaving performed across six continents and received silver and gold medals at the Global Music Awards\, Costa is regarded as one of contemporary jazz’s most sophisticated and internationally respected performers and composers. \n“This is an incredibly special event for the Sunshine Coast\,” organisers said. “To host an artist of Dan Costa’s international standing for a one-only Queensland performance is a rare cultural opportunity.
