SUMMARY:The View From Madeleine’s Couch
DESCRIPTION:In October 2022\, Australia’s acclaimed\, award-winning Brazilian ensemble mark their 25th anniversary. This milestone will be celebrated at The Jazz Sessions\, celebrating this unique band’s legacy as pioneers of Brazilian music in Australia.\nThe View From Madeleine’s Couch sits at the vanguard of Brazilian-influenced music in Australia\, forging a glorious and lush sonic path through Brazilian jazz and bossa nova\, and writing award-nominated and award-winning music across a career that includes the release of two EPs and three full-length albums.\nFounded by musical and life partners Anje West (vocals and percussion) and Kym Ambrose (vibraphone)\, the band has carved out their own niche in Australia’s musical landscape. With Anje’s gorgeous Portuguese vocals and Kym’s mastery on the vibes\, the band’s truly unique sound has given them a voice in the contemporary global music scene that is uniquely theirs. There is no other band in the country that sounds like this. \nAfter a successful crowdfunding campaign in 2019\, the band recorded Bossa Nova Sunset Club\, at the acclaimed Yama-Nui Studios with very special guest\, and dear friend\, legendary Brazilian drummer Marcio Bahia. A household name in Brazil\, Marcio played for decades with Hermeto Pascoal\, along with almost every great name in contemporary Brazilian music. \nThe band’s first album in ten years honours the music and artists that have shaped their incredible and enduring career\, and also features some of the band’s original compositions\, including ‘Meu Anjo’\, which was nominated for a 2020 Queensland Music Award. ‘Bom Fazer’ from the band’s second album Casa da Boa Vida\, won best World Music Song at the QMAs in 2009\nNow they are bringing their world-class music to the Sunshine Coast\, performing at The Jazz Sessions on Sunday 25th September at Glass House Brewery\, Forest Glen. Doors open at 5:30pm for a 6:00pm show. A $54 ticket gets you a two-course dinner along with the incredible show.\n** Ticket includes a two-course meal. Meal will be a mixed appetiser platter and hand-stretched pizza with side salad **
